Sæsonen peaker i December/Januar.

Are you consittering a trip to Thailand? There might be some tips, and tricks in these posts, so keep reading!
The yearly trip to Thailand
My first visit to the country was in 2019, and I had a great experience. So much that it made me completely fall in love with it. Not only the country, but also the culture and the people. I quickly desided that it wouldn’t be the last time to visit this gem of a country.
Since then, there has been many trips on the drawing board, which were unfortunately postponed due to corona.
When I finally had the opportunity to travel again in 2022, I had an absolutely unforgettable trip! I took off from Denmark with my friend Henrik and met his girlfriend Tin, who is from Thailand.
We saw a lot of new and exciting things, and it was fantastic to have Tin with us, as she could communicate much more easily with the locals and show us places we probably wouldn’t have found ourselves. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to write much on the trip, but this time I will do my best to document everything, in the best possible way.
3 is the magic number
The trip this year will be my third time to Thailand. Like last year, I chose 3 weeks, but this time in a new company.
Cecilie and Sissel, are two young girls from Aalborg that are to acompany me. I met Sissel a few years ago when she was getting a tattoo from me. Since then, the conversation has gone on a little bit of everything. During one session we got into talking about traveling, among other places to Thailand. It turned out that Sissel and Cille were also planning a trip.
We found out that we were planning to travel in the same periode of time, and we have now teamed up. Since then, the girls have visited me a few times for holiday meetings, where we talked a bit about what we wanted to see, experience, etc. We got all flights and hotels booked, and agreed that there was a lot of money to be saved by finding rooms/appartements to share. Of course, we have aligned expectations in relation to a lot of practical things, and it seems that we are very much at eye level. There is both room for us to do things together, but also separately.
Of course, it’s always nice to have company, and I’m looking forward to showing the girls the culture, the food, and teaching them all the Thai things I’ve absorbed during the last few trips.
Are you considering a trip?
We have primarily used Momondo to book the flights around Thailand. From experience, Agoda has the largest selection and best prices for hotels in Asia (Thailand). We used booking.com for a single hotel.
If you are considering travelling, remember to check different dates on flights, as the price difference can vary greatly from day to day of the week. It is an advantage to travel just before the high season, or just after.
From mid-November to March there are the best weather conditions. The season peaks in December/January.
Holidays and festivals also has a little to do with the prices on both hotels and flights.
These can be googled to ensure that you do not travel at a time with high prices.
Remember, it’s free to dream! You can plan a whole trip without actually booking anything. Just pure rescearch! In that way, you have a better idea on how much you need to save up, and when the best time to travel is. Plus it’s fun to learn about new cultures.
Where does the journey start?
The trip starts in Aalborg, from where we will fly on to Copenhagen to connect directly to Bangkok. Here we will be there for 3.5 days.
After the big city, it will be onwards to Chiang Mai & Chiang Rai for about 10 days. Then the trip goes back to Bangkok, to change flights on to Koh Samui. I’ve been there before but I don’t mind visiting again since it was a blast the last time. From there we take a ferry to Koh Tao and then I fly back home. The other two girls, will continue their journey a little further and visit Koh Panang, Khao Sok National Park and then go back to Bangkok and home to Denmark. I’m jelous about that last part, but at least it gives me an excuse to visit again some day.
I’m looking forward to a fantastic trip and a lot of new experiences – and not the least, to share them with you!
